Gabrielė Vetkinaitė

Gabrielė Vetkinaitė lives and works in Vilnius. She is currently studying for a master’s degree at the Department of Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Messages is an installation employing extremely small objects and low volume sound recordings that invites audiences to get closer and listen carefully. The melodies heard are smooth and monotonous, while the words are full of strong experiences. They are retold stories, voice messages waiting for their recipient. Their content was compiled intuitively as the artist searched for sensitive moments and emotional highlights in the narrative, which is emphasised by the deliberate abandonment of professional recording equipment.
