Installation “Prunes and snails”. “In my practice, materiality is the main tool used to define the power of the relationship between physical objects – the body and artworks. It is usual to think of clothing – folded or neatly hung – as products and solutions for social communication. But what if we looked at clothing as an active agent and source of pleasure, and its materiality – a ceaseless sensory experience? This understanding in turn constantly changes along with the changes in time, processes, and contexts, and the unfolding of a wider field of understanding. Enabling the garment to accept the body, instead of just covering it, creates an unspeakable sense of intimacy between the garment and the body. These two independent agents become one act of pleasure. In order to reveal the importance of clothing’s materiality, I use the textures and optical properties of the fabrics and surfaces to enable a more visual and sensory-based understanding of their existence.”
