Ona Juciūtė
Ona Juciūtė (b. 1988) lives and works in Vilnius. She studied at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Department of Sculpture and was awarded a master’s degree in 2018.
According to the artist Feast is an “undressed” two and a half metre high dining table. By undressing her objects Juciūtė seeks to grant them an anthropomorphic character, while at the same time uncomfortably objectifying the person standing beside it. The piece investigates the notion of exhibitionism: can we conceive an object detached from its function, as a nude object? Isn’t this a condition of any exhibition? The piece also draws parallels with digital reproduction – where the original is no longer copied but disappears altogether – and labour undertaken by hand, to which less and less space is allocated in our postcapitalist economy.
